Mound at Shuman Middle School

There is large earthen mound located behind Shuman Middle School off of Goebel Avenue. It is the remains of defensive earthworks near the location of Fort Brown. As you proceed North on Goebel Avenue the remains of Fort Boggs rest around the fairways of the Savannah Golf Club.

The mound gives one an idea of just how high these defensive structures were. Tons of earth was dug and stacked to create these defensive positions.
