Rose Dhu Island Battery
The Rose Dhu Island battery was a large “beautiful battery” built at the suggestion of General Beauregard after a visit to assess defenses of Savannah . It was designed to prevent any approach to the mainland via the Little Ogeechee or Vernon River .
